Radhe Krishna in Mithila Painting

Radhe- Krishna in Mithila / Madhubani Painting

Radhe- Krishna in Mithila / Madhubani Painting

In this Mithila / Madhubani Painting , Krishna is teasing Radha by trying to break her pot filled with Makhan (home made Butter). This situation has been taken from the mythological stories of Lord Krishna and Radha.  In Mithila Paintings a lot of themes are taken from the mythological stories in Hindus esp. those of Ram- Sita, Krishna- Radha, Shiva- Parvati, among others .

This is the pic of my first Mithila / Madhubani Painting (recently I found the pic) . I made this painting for the decoration during the wedding rituals of one of my relatives. Incidentally, my mother was asked to make the paintings and in order to shoulder some of her work 😉 and also to make me learn the traits of Mithila paintings she asked me to make those paintings. 🙂  Since this was my first and I was merely 11 yrs old she made me use simple designs and motifs with lesser detailing as a part of the learning process.

I apologize for the quality of the image as the painting has gone through some wear and tear during the years with some colours fading too.
