Wedding Card for Bihari Bride and Assamese Groom

I designed this Wedding Card in Mithila / Madhubani style for a wedding where the Bride comes from Bihar, India and the Groom from Assam ,India. As in the wedding this card highlights  the amalgamation of two cultures their rituals and practices in India.

The design of the Card starts with the Blessings of  Lord Ganesh on the top with symbolic Swastik amidst the sound of Shankh. The central part depicts the symbolic marriage where the Bride is dressed up in  traditional Bihari finery with the style of drape of the embroidery Saree and the Groom in traditional Assamese style with garland made of tulsi leaves , traditional Shawl (Gamosa),  Kurta and Dhoti. Traditional Assamese Jaapi too makes its presence to complete the look. Lotus (Kamal) an auspicious symbol of prosperity is also present as a design in the Saree of the Bride.  The bottom part of the Card is highlighted with the presence of auspicious  wedding symbols in both Bihar and Assam, Kalash with Mango Leaves and the auspicious Fish, symbol of growth of life. Traditional “Xorai” tray of Assam has also marked its presence here. The border of top and bottom segment have the presence of Betel Leaves (Paan) and Areca Nut (Supari / Tamul)  an auspicious symbol practiced in both Bihari and Assamese Weddings.
