Mithila Painting inspired from Godna style

Peacock, Shankh, Dancing Dolls in the Godna style inspired Mithila / Madhubani Painting

Peacock, Shankh, Dancing Dolls in the Godna style inspired Mithila / Madhubani Painting

The Painting is highlighted with the motifs of pair of Peacock, Shankh, Dancing Dolls with flower and other patterns in border and background taking inspiration from Godna style of Mithila / Madhubani painting.

An important feature of this painting is the synchronization with the Bottom two rows ( i.e. of Shankh and Dancing Dolls) are the mirror image of the Top two rows ( i.e. of Shankh and Dancing Dolls). Even in the row of pair of peacock are invert replica of each other.

Traditionally, Godna style or the Tattoo style on Mithila / Madhubani Painting was mostly prevalent in the so called scheduled castes in Mithila region. These paintings were slightly less detailed and following a simple pattern than the famous Line Paintings (Kachni style) or Colour Paintings (Bharni Style) made by the Brahman and Kayastha groups. These paintings draw a lot of inspiration from nature. Although I have taken some of my artistic liberty to make it detailed so this can also be said as the amalgamation of two styles of Mithila Painting.

Initially, I started this painting as a doodle with Pen (using Black, Red, Blue and Green). As I finished with the work with pen I felt it to be slightly incomplete so I just added some Yellow to the base and Green in Poster colour to the outer border to add some spark to the painting.
